Breckenridge Ski - February 23rd

Well after everyone in bed by 8:30 the 2:00 a.m. groomer was not too bad.  But the return at around 4 was.  The granddaughters decided that 5:00 a.m. was a good start.  Grandma made an egg casserole that went in the oven at 5:30.  Logan texted and said no skiing today as he woke up with the flu.  Yikes.  This year has not been good for being sick.  Uncle David has a sinus infection from his whirlwind trip to Sweden and then CO and now skiing.  We should connect tonight at some point.

Drake took Parker to ski school, Logan was still sick after a long night of chills, etc.  SJ woke up with a bad tummy and as we learned later that day she went down hard with fever, etc.  Nobody was able to capture SJ being down and out.  Nothing like a little stomach flu bug to hit on vacation.

Drake and Grandpa hit the mountain and after a warm up run tried to cross to Peak 8 using the black runs on the right side of peak 9.  Unfortunately they were all moguls as not enough snow to groom like typical and one portion of the route was closed due to no snow.  The lift over was typical and the run down to the base of peak 7 spotty.  After several runs up to Freedom lift and back down to Independence lift we took a break for a shared hamburger and beer.

That morning Grandma took Palmer out to explore the town and captured some more pictures of Parker at day two of ski school.

Then another run and a trek over to Peak 6.  The top was blown / scraped off so icy, but the tree line section in decent shape.  Grandpa only had one of those runs in him, so Drake did one more loop, then we worked our way back to Peak 9.  We hit the restroom and Maggie's while we waited for Parker to finish school.

Dada tried a little test with her on the small hill and decided against going up the lift.  A few more lessons are needed.

Back to the condo, post ski day snack and then Parker, Grandpa and Drake hit the pool and hot tub.

Back to the condo and with everyone pretty much out of it, Drake and Grandpa headed out to MI Casa for dinner.  Uncle David and Christa joined for a fun delicious dinner and drink!

Upon getting back to the room the pullout bed in the living room was made up for Grandpa.  Parker was sleeping with Grandma.  Palmer with Mom, so Dada got the top bunk.

Drive to Denver - February 20th

This morning started the Ski Trip to Breckenridge, CO with the Expedition loaded and ready except no grandma.  No iphone to be found.  Search and search and no idea where....wait a minute what is that in the fridge.  An iphone!! A quick 20 minute drive to Summit Petcare to drop Breck off for his Boarding - Daycare - Grooming week.  After the drop off we headed to Hays, KS.  Along the way around Salina a lot Troopers and Sheriffs' with cars pulled over.  Otherwise this leg of the trip was uneventful. Brecks Hotel for the Ski Trip We met Janet and Damon at Applebee's to have late lunch and celebrate Janet's BD.  Rita and Roger came in and surprised Janet joining us for the celebration.  Lunch, presents and cake made for a good stop.  Then everyone back on the road with Jeff and Janie grabbing some $2.39 gasoline for the next leg. Home Travel - February 28th

4:00 a.m. came quick, and Grandpa was first up with a hot shower as the sinuses seemed clogged.  Then Drake and SJ with Palmer.  Then Grandma and Parker sound asleep despite the noise.  Uncle Logan was up and we helped finish packing at getting everyone out to the shuttle by 4:50 - 5:00 a.m. Grandma getting some snooze time in on way to DIA By 6:30 the truck was packed, condo departure checklist complete and ready to head out.  Logan reminded Dad we need to look for Drake's skis.  We parked out front and walked the entire area.  To Logan's credit he spied the skis inside a door to the Education Department office next door to the Ski School.  Unfortunately not open and nobody answered the number on the door. Breckinridge Skiing - February 26

Day 5 of skiing started at 5:00 a.m. with Palmer wanting everyone up.  Both her and Parker laid down with Mama in the living room.  Palmer struggled and stayed awake while Mama and Parker passed out.  Eventually everyone pulled it together with breakfast and getting ready for the mountain. Despite the forecast of 20% chance of light snow, it was windy and snowy all day long.  Thank goodness for low light goggles.  Even so this was the coldest day of skiing for everyone.  Even Parker braved the weather all day. Playing in the snow a requirement in ski school Now this is ski weather! We met up with Parker at 3:00 p.m. to take another lift ride to the top of Quicksilver so Parker could ski down with everyone.  She showed improvement with balance and giggles on her stop by doing a 180 and falling down.
