Breckenridge Skiing - February 22

Back to sleep at 4:45 till 6:00 a.m.  Granddaughters were up by 6:15 and Parker is stoked for ski school.  Drake booked her for Beaver Run, so hopefully a change to Village will be good.  Everyone did the morning eating and stretching, etc. needed to get the day rolling.

Drake and Sarah took Parker at 8:00 a.m. to get fitted with boots and skis and set her for the first day of ski lessons at 3 years old!  Then we all packed up to the mountain for a day of skiing.  Bluebird morning and no wait in lines.

Grandma Janie watched Palmer, while David and Christa trekked to Keystone to meet up with friends.

Dusting the rust off for several runs before a quick water and pee break.  Then several more runs before lunch including American where Grandpa and SJ missed the turn and ended up skiing through a cut off run with not much snow and a lot of icy moguls and trees.

Before we got down, SJ got a call from the ski school as Parker had a bathroom accident.  Grandma and Palmer came to the rescue with some dry gear.  Turns out not that bid a deal, just a little tough going to the bathroom in full ski gear.  All good and she finished out the day.

At noon we headed to the condo for lunch and Dave Henderson joined us.  Enchilada soup and left over french dip sandwiches.  Logan did a wrap and soup.  Drake brought some girl scout cookies, so a fantastic lunch.  We watched from the Window as Parker did a few runs.  The ski school was right outside our condo.

The crew went back up for several runs until we had to make it down to pick up Parker.  At the base of Beaver Superchair they had one route to the base closed because there were two moose just off the run munching on whatever moose eat.  Logan did another run and made in a little later.

After some snacks and drinks we packed up to the Swimming Pool and Hot Tub.  Logan and Grandpa were left for some last minute hot tub time, who both realized no phone, no key.  Several minutes in the steam room and Grandpa showered before heading back with fingers crossed.  Luck would have it that a worker was taking out trash and opened the door for them.

Grandma had a Sausage, Pepper, Pasta with garlic bread and caesar salad.  Drake and Grandpa made a quick trip to the liquor store and upon return dug into a great dinner with some Italian wine Drake found.  Same wine they had when in Italy.

After dinner and the granddaughters passed out, we watched the USA Team Hockey highlights and everyone stretched, and wound down.  At 7:45 p.m. SJ went to bed.  Not to brag the rest of us didn't do much better and all headed to bed at 8:30 p.m.

Drive to Denver - February 20th

This morning started the Ski Trip to Breckenridge, CO with the Expedition loaded and ready except no grandma.  No iphone to be found.  Search and search and no idea where....wait a minute what is that in the fridge.  An iphone!! A quick 20 minute drive to Summit Petcare to drop Breck off for his Boarding - Daycare - Grooming week.  After the drop off we headed to Hays, KS.  Along the way around Salina a lot Troopers and Sheriffs' with cars pulled over.  Otherwise this leg of the trip was uneventful. Brecks Hotel for the Ski Trip We met Janet and Damon at Applebee's to have late lunch and celebrate Janet's BD.  Rita and Roger came in and surprised Janet joining us for the celebration.  Lunch, presents and cake made for a good stop.  Then everyone back on the road with Jeff and Janie grabbing some $2.39 gasoline for the next leg. Home Travel - February 28th

4:00 a.m. came quick, and Grandpa was first up with a hot shower as the sinuses seemed clogged.  Then Drake and SJ with Palmer.  Then Grandma and Parker sound asleep despite the noise.  Uncle Logan was up and we helped finish packing at getting everyone out to the shuttle by 4:50 - 5:00 a.m. Grandma getting some snooze time in on way to DIA By 6:30 the truck was packed, condo departure checklist complete and ready to head out.  Logan reminded Dad we need to look for Drake's skis.  We parked out front and walked the entire area.  To Logan's credit he spied the skis inside a door to the Education Department office next door to the Ski School.  Unfortunately not open and nobody answered the number on the door. Breckinridge Skiing - February 26

Day 5 of skiing started at 5:00 a.m. with Palmer wanting everyone up.  Both her and Parker laid down with Mama in the living room.  Palmer struggled and stayed awake while Mama and Parker passed out.  Eventually everyone pulled it together with breakfast and getting ready for the mountain. Despite the forecast of 20% chance of light snow, it was windy and snowy all day long.  Thank goodness for low light goggles.  Even so this was the coldest day of skiing for everyone.  Even Parker braved the weather all day. We met up with Parker at 3:00 p.m. to take another lift ride to the top of Quicksilver so Parker could ski down with everyone.  She showed improvement with balance and giggles on her stop by doing a 180 and falling down.
